Heinz and Martha Ellrod, the faces and founders of Godfry’s Men’s and Women’s Clothier, said two things make the 32-year-old store what it is: customer service and relationships. Yes, they carry quality products and lines from the likes of Ermenegildo Zegna, Oxxford, Versace and Pal Zileri—names rarely found at other local men’s clothiers. But it’s really more about the personal touch. “If a client comes in and he wants a suit for tomorrow morning or needs it couriered to his office or to his house,” Heinz said, the shop will make it happen. “We do everything.”

Included in everything is custom work: Godfry’s offers several custom services, with made-to-measure suits starting at $995 and running to $8,000. Don’t expect not to see Heinz or Martha when you go. The couple is almost always there to maintain the individual experience that has made the store a success. Said Heinz: “It’s one of the most paramount things.”
