Feel Fabulous at The Blowout Bar
It’s safe to say I wouldn’t mind starting all of my days with a trip to The Blowout Bar.
The new Grandview blow-dry bar, located at 1378 Grandview Ave., just opened its doors on Oct. 12, and it’s already buzzing with bookings and walk-ins.
Owners and sisters Kristin and Kailen Kouvas said they’re overjoyed with the response and are already scouting other Central Ohio spots for a second location.
“We like bringing something new to Columbus that we haven’t had before,” Kristin said. “It’s just special.”
Here’s how it works—you start with a wash and lovely scalp massage (and a mimosa or some coffee, if you’d like). Then your stylist will blow-dry and style your hair, using a round brush, a pretty serious dryer and some Kevin Murphy products, in one of five ways.
The Cosmo: straight but voluminous (and Kristin’s favorite)
The Neat, please: straight and sleek
The Flirtini: loose curls—the most popular (and Kailen’s favorite)
The Bahama Mama: tousled and beachy waves (my choice)
The Hurricane: big and curly, with volume
These are all priced at $35. Add a 10-minute scalp massage or a nourishing mask for an extra $10.
So no cutting, highlighting or coloring. Just careful and creative styling.
The gorgeous space is decorated with reclaimed wood from Ohio barns, huge TVs (often streaming “Sex and the City”) and white, white, white.
My blowout took almost 90 minutes, but my hair is both long and thick, so I planned for that.
The Blowout Bar also offers up-dos and house calls—perfect for a wedding or bachelorette party. But don’t wait for a special occasion to book your appointment. Trust me, you’ll leave feeling fabulous.
